The Oakland Athletics welcome the Washington Nationals to town for the first game of a three-game series. The Athletics come into Friday having won four of their last five games. They started the season with just one win in their first eight games, but have since beaten the Detroit Tigers twice and then took two of three from the defending World Series champion Tex Rangers. Friday they will look to stay hot as they send Paul Blackburn to the mound. Blackburn has been spectacular to start the year as he has yet to give up a run in 13 combined innings against the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians.

The Nationals will look to be the first team to score on him as they try and avoid a second straight loss.
The Nationals had won three in a row, but they lost in the finale of their series with the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. The loss dropped them to 5-7 on the season, but they still picked up their first series win of the season.
Friday they will send Jake Irvin to the mound in the opener against the A’s. Irving comes into the start 0-1 with a 5.73 ERA.
