The Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals close out this series with a rubber match today.

The Boston Red Sox (20-19) got back on track with a win in game two of this series, snapping a three-game losing streak. Before this series, Boston lost five straight games and five of the last six overall. They look to close out this series with a win against the Washington Nationals (19-19) with a win in this interleague series. In the first two games of this series, the teams split the games with Washington holding a slight edge in runs scored 7-6 with both teams playing terrific baseball in their respective wins. Another win today for Boston would keep them in the hunt early this season in a very competitive AL East Division.

On the mound today for Boston to try and earn a series win is right-hander Brayan Bello (3-1, 3.04 ERA) through six starts. He takes on Washington’s young left-hander MacKenzie Gore (2-3, 3.44 ERA) in his eighth start of the season to close out this three-game interleague series.

In game one of the series Washington jumped out early and closed out strong in a 5-1 win behind Patrick Corbin’s first win of the season. With Corbin pitching well and the offense stepping up in spots Washington was able to start this series with a strong win against a struggling Boston team.

Then, in game two, Boston locked down Washington in a 4-2 win to even up the series behind a Rafael Devers two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie and even the series heading into the rubber match today.
