The first semifinal of the college beach volleyball NCAA Tournament sends the first team to the championship today.
The NCAA Tournament in college beach volleyball is a major test of athleticism and stamina for teams with not only quarterfinal matches today, but also the semifinals. In this first semifinal match the winner of top-seeded USC and eighth-seeded LMU will take on the winner of the fourth-seeded Florida State and fifth-seeded Cal Poly. Both of those matches are in progress with the semifinals here just on the horizon. For the Lions and Mustangs, they are both looking for not only the program’s first championship in college beach volleyball, but their first appearances in the championship match. The Seminoles and especially the Trojans are conditioned to making long runs here.

Since this tournament began back in 2016 the Trojans have played in six of the seven championship matches. They won the first two, lost in 2019 and since that loss have won back-to-back-to-back championships in search of a fourth in a row this year.
The Seminoles lost in the championship match three times in 2016 to the Trojans, in 2018 to UCLA and again in 2022 to the Trojans. Those two teams will look to navigate upsets in the quarterfinals to play in what could be a highly emotional and skilled semifinal match here today.
On the other side of the bracket the semifinals will be built through quarterfinal matches between third-seeded Stanford vs. 11th-seeded LSU and the second-seeded Bruins vs. seventh-seeded California. There will potentially be three Pac-12 schools in the semifinals of the 2024 NCAA Tournament of college beach volleyball.
