A rejuvenated Newcastle hosts Brighton in the hope of improving its odds of qualifying for Europe next season
Things are on the up for a Newcastle United team that’s looking to win three straight games for the first time in more than six months but host a tricky Brighton & Hove Albion team on Saturday. The Magpies are sat sixth in the Premier League and four points below Tottenham Hotspur directly above, with a chance of still qualifying for next term’s Europa League if they can piece together the right end to their campaign. Brighton, on the other hand, is fighting for little more than pride at this stage but recently ended a stretch of six games without a win by beating a tough Aston Villa outfit.

Joao Pedro’s penalty was all that separated Brighton and Villa last weekend, with the Brazilian sealing all three points for the Seagulls with an 87th-minute penalty to push them back up to 11th.
Newcastle was more dominant at Turf Moor and battered Burnley 4-1 last weekend, just seven days after demolishing another relegation-threatened foe, Sheffield United.
Callum Wilson only recently returned from a two-month injury absence but scored his second goal in as many appearances, while Sean Longstaff was another of Newcastle’s four scorers in Lancashire:
Eddie Howe would undoubtedly love to persevere with a forward pairing of Wilson and Alexander Isak, but the Swede appears in serious need of a rest after so many minutes of late.
Winger Harvey Barnes is another option to join the attack should that be the case, while Howe has other options at the back, with Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles each sidelined.
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi also has issues of his own with key men like Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March, Evan Ferguson and Jack Hinshelwood each out of action.
