Giants aim to snap losing skid as they open home schedule against NL West Division rival Padres
After splitting a four-game series last weekend, the scene shifts to Oracle Park today for the San Francisco Giants home opener as they welcome in the San Diego Padres for the first of a three-game weekend set. Jordan Hicks (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his second start of the season for the Giants after blanking the Padres allowing just three hits in five innings of work in Saturday’s 9-6 road win against the Padres. San Diego will counter with veteran right-hander Dylan Cease (0-1, 3.86 ERA) who failed to make it out of the fifth inning of a loss to the Giants last weekend allowing two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work.

Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is tied for third in MLB with three home runs this season, one of which came against the Giants last Friday. In his fifth season with the Padres, Tatis Jr. has hit 109 home runs posting a career-high 42 in 2021.
Riding a three-game hit streak and having collected at least one hit in six of his first seven games this season, Giants left fielder Michael Conforto is hitting a team-high .370 this season with three home runs and nine runs batted in.
