The New York Rangers go for their sixth win in a row when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night.
Heading into Monday night’s NHL slate, the New York Rangers (50-20-4) have the longest active winning streak in the Eastern Conference. They’ve won five games in a row, with their most recent win – an 8-5 victory against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday – making them the first NHL team to reach the 50-win mark this season. On Monday night the Rangers will try to continue that winning streak when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins (32-30-11) at Madison Square Garden.

While the Rangers have both the most wins and most standings points (104) in the NHL, they’re hardly running away with anything. In their own division they’re only three points up on the Carolina Hurricanes, although they do have a game in hand. When looking at the Eastern Conference picture as a whole the Rangers have the same amount of separation as the Boston Bruins, who are tied in points and games played with the Hurricanes.
Meanwhile, the Rangers have just a one-point lead on the Dallas Stars in the President’s Trophy race. However, it is the Rangers that have a game in hand in that race.
