The Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins will meet for the third time on Saturday at LoanDepot Park.
The opening weekend of the 2024 MLB season will continue on Saturday as the Marlins and Pirates meet for the third game of their four-game series at LoanDepot Park in Miami. The Marlins come into Saturday’s game with a record of 0-2 after dropping the first two games of the series. Yesterday’s game resulted in a tough 7-2 loss which was credited to A.J. Puck on the mound after he pitched two innings and gave up four earned runs in his first start of the season. Jake Burger, Bryan De La Cruz and Tim Anderson each recorded two hits. Burger and Christian Bethancourt brought the team’s two runs home with an RBI single and an RBI groundout, respectively.

With yesterday’s win, the Pirates moved to 2-0 on the season to start off strong. The team combined for 10 hits yesterday, led by Connor Joe, Ke’Bryan Hayes and Oneil Cruz who all finished the game with two hits apiece. Hayes finished the game with two RBI from his RBI double in the top of the third and a sac fly in the top of the eighth. Ryder Ryan picked up his first win of the young season with 1.2 innings of work on the mound in which he struck out two and only gave up one hit.
