Jayden Melendez and Pittsburgh will take the field against Estevan Moreno and Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.
Pittsburgh will head on the road for the final game of a three-game series against Atlantic Coast Conference rival Notre Dame in South Bend, Illinois. Heading into this week, the Panthers are overall 18-22 with a record of just 5-16 against teams from the conference. They got the beginning of last week off playing just a three-game series last weekend against Bryant at home. They won with a run differential of 24-21 at Charles L Cost Field. Jayden Melendez and Luke Cantwell have been the best in the batters’ box this season so far. Melendez is batting just .234 but has a team-high with 13 home runs paired with 33 RBIs on 34 hits in 145 at-bats. Cantwell, the team’s first baseman, is batting .328 with an on-base percentage of .569. He has nine home runs and a team-high 35 RBIs on 45 hits in 137 at-bats. Jack Sokol has been the best pitcher on the team with a 5-2 record over 11 starts. He has a 4.78 ERA with 31 earned runs in 58.1 innings and a total of 46 strikeouts and 24 walks.

The Fighting Irish are heading into the week with a 22-20 record on the season and a 7-17 record against conference teams. Last week, they lost a single game to Central Michigan at home before winning two of three games in a weekend series against Wake Forest by a total run differential of 22-14.
Estevan Moreno, Simon Baumgardt, and David Glancy all have double-digit home runs this season. Glancy leads the pack with 12 homers while also leading the pack with 37 RBIs. Baumgardt had 10 home runs and 35 RBIs while Moreno boasts 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. Moreno is also batting the best at .312.
