Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s seven-run fifth inning fueled its 12-9 opening-day win on Thursday. Greg Allen led off the season with a home run while Brandon Lockridge and Carlos Narvaez each had two RBI during the big fifth while Jose Rojas and Pereira each homered in the frame. Warren couldn’t get out of the first, recording just one out.
The Bisons took a 5-1 lead after one inning and were up 7-4 after four before surrendering the big SWB rally. Spencer Horwitz hit a two-run homer in the first and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and Addison Barger had a two-run double. Tiedemann allowed one run in 2.2 innings, coming out after 65 pitches.
Veteran Paolo Espino gets the start for Buffalo on Saturday. He signed with the Toronto organization in December and was 4-3 with a 4.33 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 60.1 innings for the Rochester Red Wings last season. The RailRiders go with right-hander Cody Poteet, who missed most of last season after Tommy John surgery and signed with the Yankees in January.
