    The International League-leading Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders open a 6-game series with the Worcester Red Sox on Tuesday night

    The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (27-11) enter their six-game road series against the Worcester Red Sox (18-21) at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts, with two straight victories and wins in eight of their last 10 games. The RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, hold a two-game lead in the International League first-half standings while Worcester, the top farm club of the Boston Red Sox, stands tied for 13th place. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre took four of six from the visiting Rochester Red Wings last week while the Red Sox dropped five of seven on the road to the Buffalo Bisons. Neither team boasts an MLB Pipeline Top 100 prospect on its roster.

    Everson Pereira, a 23-year-old outfielder ranked No. 5 in the Yankees organization, leads the RailRiders offense with nine home runs and 25 RBI while slashing .254/.335/.514 in 34 games. Caleb Durbin, a 24-year-old shortstop acquired from the Atlanta Braves in December 2022, slashes .296/.420/.444 through 38 games.

    First baseman Niko Kavadas, a 25-year-old taken out of Notre Dame in the 11th round in 2021, leads Worcester with a .319/.467/.702 slash line, nine homers and 23 RBI. The top position-player prospect on the roster, 24-year-old catcher Nathan Hickey, has struggled to a .210/.312/.345 slash line to go with three home runs and 18 RBI with 44 strikeouts.

    The Red Sox open the series with 31-year-old right-hander Jason Alexander (1-3) on the mound. Signed by the organization on Feb. 20, Alexander owns a 3.94 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in seven starts and 32 innings. Right-hander Will Warren (3-1), 24 and the No. 7 prospect for New York, takes the ball for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Over seven starts and 33.1 innings, Warren notched a 4.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 36 strikeouts.
