The Texas Rangers go for the series win against the Houston Astros on Saturday afternoon.
The Houston Astros are at risk of losing five in a row going into Game 2 of this weekend’s series against the Texas Rangers. Pitching has been the problem, especially in these last three games. In those games, the least amount of runs Houston has given up is 11. The Astros lost 12-8 at home in the opener on Friday. Jonah Heim was a huge source of offense hitting a three-run bomb and driving in four runs. Texas was up 12-3 at its peak until the Astros made some attempt to come back with a five-spot in the seventh. It wasn’t enough to complete the rally though Houston is now just 4-11 under new head coach Joe Espada. It is the first time Houston has been seven games under .500 for the first time since 2016.

With the win, the Rangers now lead the season series 3-2 but Houston is favored today at -145 to tie the series up. The good news for the Astros is that they’re going to get some pitching help and in a hurry this afternoon. The team will start Ronel Blanco who has already thrown a no-hitter this month and is 2-0 and yet to give up a run in 2024. Andrew Heaney will go for the Rangers who have a chance to win the series tonight. The lefty is trying to get back on track starting the season with a 0-2 record and a 7.56 ERA.
