The Boston Red Sox begin their trek west for Opening Day with a 2-game series that opens Monday against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington
The Boston Red Sox (17-12) open their season in Seattle on Thursday and broke camp in Florida to start their trip west. On Monday, the Red Sox open a two-game exhibition series against the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers (11-14) at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Texas played its final game in Arizona on Saturday before heading home to host the Chicago Cubs on Opening Day. Boston made a late addition to its roster on Sunday, signing veteran right-hander Chase Anderson to a one-year deal the day after he was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Anderson pitched last season with the Tampa Bay Rays and Colorado Rockies.

Allan Castro’s RBI single in the seventh salvaged a 5-5 tie for the Red Sox against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Triston Casas had a two-run single and Masataka Yoshida drove in a run with a base hit as well. Starter Kutter Crawford gave up all five Atlanta runs in his 5.2-inning stint, surrendering eight hits and striking out five.
Outfielder Wyatt Langford, the fourth overall pick by the Rangers out of Florida last summer, will open the season on the 26-man roster. After hitting .360/.480/.677 across four levels of the minors last season, Langford turned heads in spring training with a .375/.429/.732 slash line that included six home runs and 20 RBI.
While Texas hadn’t settled on a starter for Monday night, right-hander Garrett Whitlock is scheduled to open the game for Boston. He has a 3.45 ERA and 0.96 WHIP across 15.2 innings this spring.
