The San Francisco Giants look to even the series with the Cincinnati Reds in game two today.

The Cincinnati Reds (17-21) kicked off game one of this three-game series with the San Francisco Giants (17-23) with a win. They head into game two today with the opportunity to make it two wins in a row and take just their first series win in nearly a month. Before this series began Cincinnati had lost eight games in a row, including two straight series sweeps to the Baltimore Orioles and the Arizona Diamondbacks. For San Francisco, it has not been .500 or better since the fourth game of the season and is looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

In the first game of the series Cincinnati came away with a 4-2 win on the road. They were able to nickel and dime the offense throughout the game with one run scored in the first, third, fourth and eighth innings to outlast San Francisco who could not find its offense all game.

Cincinnati has left-hander Lodolo (3-1, 2.79 ERA) on the mound today in his sixth start of the season. In his first five starts, Lodolo has given up just 19 hits, nine earned runs and has 37 strikeouts to begin the 2024 season. He is on pace to have a career-best season in his third year in the majors.

San Francisco counters with right-hander Mason Black (0-1, 10.38 ERA) to try and get the team back on track. Black has only started one game this season in his rookie season where he allowed five runs and eight hits in just 4.1 innings pitched. This is Black’s opportunity to earn the first win of his career.
