Christina M. Hixson Park is set to host the exciting weekend matchup between Nevada and San Jose State on Sunday in college softball regular season action. The two teams faced on Saturday with Nevada taking a 9-1 victory at home. San José started the game with a leadoff single, then Carley Brown retired the following three batters to hold the Spartans scoreless. The Pack put up its first run in the second with a Maile Olsen double through the left side, scoring Aaliyah Jenkins. Jenkins reached base on a double to left center. The Pack had an explosive third and fourth inning, adding the remaining eight runs of the game.

Furthermore, the Pack’s five-run fourth inning started with two back-to-back singles from Chelie Senini and Bailie Clark. Haley Painter came to the plate delivering an RBI double scoring Clark, extending the lead, 5-0. Then, Matlyn Leetch came in to pinch run for Painter. Bridgette Gilliano recorded a sacrifice fly scoring Senini.
Herrera knocked the third single of the inning scoring Leetch and putting the Pack up by seven. Then, Jenkins crushed her second two-run home run of the game in back-to-back innings, putting a stamp on the Pack’s final runs of the game, heading to the fifth, 9-0.
