South Carolina (30-16) bounced back with a win on Saturday over No. 10 Florida (36-10), setting up a rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday morning at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Florida. The Gators have lost four of their last six games and fell to 11-6 in the Southeastern Conference and trail first-place Tennessee by two games. With the win, the Gamecocks improved to 6-11 in SEC play and jumped past Auburn into 11th place. Both teams played in last year’s NCAA tournament, while Florida looks to continue its streak of 20 consecutive trips to the NCAA tourney.

South Carolina never trailed on Saturday, taking a 1-0 lead on Jen Cummings’ solo homer in the second en route to a 6-2 victory. Aniyah Black and Zoe Laneaux later added two-run blasts and Denver Bryant had a solo shot in the seventh. Four of the team’s seven hits left the yard. Riley Blampied leads the team with 28 RBI and slashes .303/.380/.479 while Kianna Jones tops the squad with five home runs.
Reagan Walsh got Florida on the board with a solo homer in the fourth and Jocelyn Erickson drove in a run with a seventh-inning groundout. Walsh’s home run was her team-high 14th, while Erickson leads the club with 57 RBI. Korbe Otis hits .442/.582/.675 and Skylar Wallace leads the team with 28 stolen bases.
Keagan Rothrock (18-5) didn’t pitch for the Gators on Saturday. She owns a 2.13 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 151 innings. Alana Vawter (13-8) went the distance for Saturday’s victory and, in 137.2 innings, has a 1.88 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.
