The Cardinal comes into Friday night’s conference game with an overall record of 9-9 and a conference record of 2-4. The team hasn’t stepped foot on the court for over two weeks and the last games played were against No. 6 BYU which were split. Stanford lost the first match in five sets, but swept BYU 3-0 in the second. Kevin Lamp led the offensive efforts with nine kills and received support from Nathan Lietzke who served up 30 assists. Luke Turner held down the defense and finished the game with six digs in the win.

The Bruins bring a five-game win streak into Friday night’s game and have an overall record of 16-4 and a conference record of 5-1 so far. The team’s last game was played against No. 7 Ohio State and resulted in a 3-0 sweep in the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge. Ethan Champlin led the attack for the Bruins with 10 kills while Andrew Rowan added 21 assists to the offense. The team wasn’t challenged much defensively, but when it was, Matthew Aziz held strong, finishing with five digs on the day.
When Stanford and UCLA met last season, UCLA won each of the three games in straight sets.
