Tennessee and South Carolina will finish up a three-game series in Columbia on Monday.
On Monday night, No. 25 South Carolina will host No. 7 Tennessee for the final game of the teams’ three-game SEC series in Columbia. The Gamecocks are currently 22-9 overall and 0-5 in conference play after losing the first two games to the Lady Vols in this series. On Sunday, the team dropped a 7-0 game to Tennessee to officially lose the series at home. The Gamecocks could only muster three hits in yesterday’s game, two of which came from Riley Blampied. The other hit came from the bat of Denver Bryant, but the team was unable to bring either of the women home, resulting in the shutout. Alana Vawter dropped to 8-5 on the season after pitching 3.2 innings and striking out two batters in the loss.

The Lady Vols are now undefeated in SEC play with a perfect 5-0 record against conference opponents and are 25-4 overall. The team extended its win streak to 17 games in yesterday’s 7-0 victory over the Gamecocks. Payton Gottshall improved to 11-2 on the season after pitching a complete game on Sunday and striking out seven batters in the shutout. McKenna Gibson and Destiny Rodriguez each finished the game with two hits to lead at the plate. Rylie West led the team with three RBI from her sacrifice fly in the first and her two-run bomb in the third.
The Lady Vols will look to complete the sweep on Monday night and continue their unbeaten SEC run.
