Taylor Pendrith made moving day count on Saturday, shooting an eight-under-par 63 to move into the lead at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Pendrith carries a one-shot lead into the final round on Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, about 32 miles north of Dallas in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Second-round leader Jake Knapp sits one shot back after a third-round 67 on Saturday. Defending champion Jason Day, a two-time winner of the event, made the cut but stands far out of contention at six-under-par, tied for 58th place. The tournament dates to 1944 as the Texas Victory Open, won by the event’s namesake, Byron Nelson.

Pendrith carded a bogey-free round, making his big move with back-to-back eagles on the par-five fifth and par-four sixth. The 32-year-old Canadian seeks his first PGA Tour victory and owns a pair of top-10 finishes this season. His best career finish, a tie for second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, came in July 2022.
Ben Kohles and first-round leader Matt Wallace share third place, two shots back of Pendrith. Alex Noren and Kelly Kraft sit in a fifth-place tie, four shots behind, while Kevin Tway, Vince Whaley, Byeong Hun An and Troy Merritt holds shares of seventh place, five shots back.
The winner on Sunday earns $1.71 million from the $9.5 million purse along with 500 FedExCup points.
