Detroit will start the fifth pitcher on the rotation, Casey Mize, tonight in the second game of this series. Mize hasn’t pitched since April 14th in 2022 when he went 5.0 innings against the Kansas City Royals. Mize had Tommy John surgery ending his 2022 season and subsequently didn’t pitch in 2023 due to recovery. Will he be the same pitcher?
Adrian Houser will get the start for New York as the last starter in its five-man rotation as well. The right-hander who was previously with the Milwaukee Brewers went 8-5 in his 2023 campaign. He had a 4.12 ERA with a total of 96 strikeouts and a 1.39 WHIP.
