The Pittsburgh Pirates look to sweep their 2-game interleague rivalry series from the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday afternoon at PNC Park
The Pittsburgh Pirates (9-2) retained their share of the best record in MLB with a Monday victory over the Detroit Tigers (6-4). On Tuesday, the teams close out their two-game designated interleague rivalry series at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park. It’s the second consecutive strong start for the Pirates, who were 20-9 at the end of last April before fading to a fourth-place finish. Still, Pittsburgh’s 76-86 finish represented a 14-game improvement over a 100-loss campaign in 2022. Detroit played better-than-.500 baseball after the All-Star break in 2023, finishing second in the American League Center at 78-84. That was 12 more victories than the previous season.
