    Unbeaten Milwaukee Brewers set for their home opener Tuesday at American Family Field as they host the Minnesota Twins to open a 2-game series

    The Milwaukee Brewers (3-0) opened their season with a three-game road sweep of the New York Mets and after an off day host the Minnesota Twins (2-1) at American Family Field on Tuesday for their home opener. The Brewers’ 3-0 start is their best since winning their first three contests in 2018, On Monday, Milwaukee outrighted catcher Eric Haase to Triple-A Nashville. Haase, signed as a free-agent in December, lost the backup competition to Gary Sánchez, signed as a free agent in February. Minnesota took two of three at the Kansas City Royals to open the campaign but lost infielder Royce Lewis for more than a month to a quad strain on opening day.

    Second baseman Brice Turang and left fielder Christian Yelich, a former MVP, opened the season 5-for-11 at New York, with Yelich hitting a homer and Turang swiping four bases. Free-agent addition Rhys Hoskins, taking over at first base, had a home run and four RBI against the Mets.

    Outfielders Alex Kiriloff and Byron Buxton were 3-for-10 each at Kansas City, with Buxton driving in three runs. Lewis hit Minnesota’s only home run in the series. Buxton returns to full-time duty in center field this season after spending most of the last two seasons in the DH spot. In his lone healthy season in 2017, Buxton won a Gold Glove.

    Right-hander Jakob Junis debuts for Milwaukee on the bump Tuesday. Junis signed in February after working primarily in relief for the San Francisco Giants last season, posting a 3.87 ERA and 1.291 WHIP with 96 strikeouts in 86 innings. Right-hander Louie Varland had a 4.63 ERA and 1.221 WHIP in 68 innings for the Twins last season.
