Utah will take Indiana State in the semifinals of the NIT at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, tonight. The Utes from the Pac-12 went 22-14 this season leading up to this game losing in the quarterfinal of the Pac-12 Tournament to Colorado that denied their entry into the NCAA Tournament. They opened up NIT play against UC Irvine, a game in which they won by nine points. Branden Carlson led the team with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting and 11 rebounds. Moving onto the second round, they took down Utah by nine points as well. This time, Gabe Madsen led the team in scoring dropping 31 points on 9-of-19 shooting while Deivon Smith had a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. In the quarterfinals, they matched up with VCU and dominated this game winning by 20 points. Madsen had 18 points while Smith once again totaled a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.
