Top-seeded Syracuse faces fifth seed Virginia in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday.

With the number one seed advancing to play the upset-minded fifth seed in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Charlotte, No. 1 Syracuse takes on No. 5 Virginia on Friday night. The Orange opened the ACC Tournament with a dominant win following a heartbreaking overtime loss to Boston College in their regular-season finale. Syracuse is now 13-4 overall this season, with an 8-1 mark in conference play. Virginia, on the other hand, has won five straight games to improve to 14-3 overall with a 6-3 pace in ACC play. Earlier this season, Syracuse earned a narrow 15-14 victory over Virginia in Charlottesville.

Most recently, top-seeded Syracuse advanced to the semifinals with a 17-8 victory over Louisville on Wednesday. Emma Tyrrell and Emma Ward combined for 10 points in the win, with Tyrrell finishing with four goals and two assists for a game-high six points. 

As for Virginia, the Hoos upset fourth-seeded North Carolina in a 13-12 quarterfinals win on Wednesday afternoon. Three Cavaliers recorded hat tricks with Jenna Dinardo leading the way in a six-point night on three goals and two assists.
