Washington has a three-game winning streak going heading into Friday night’s matchup with Arizona State.
With less than a month to go until the Pac-12 Tournament begins, teams are trying to make a final push toward playoff positioning. Washington (17-20-1, 8-13 Pac-12) is doing a good job of making a late push. The Huskies have won three games in a row and four of their last five. That includes winning two games against No. 16 Arizona last weekend and then beating Gonzaga 8-2 on Tuesday. They’ll try to keep this stretch going this weekend when they’re on the road for a three-game series against Arizona State (23-22, 12-12 Pac-12). That series begins on Friday night.

Arizona State has also been playing well as of late. They’ve won six of their last seven games, including a sweep of UCLA two weeks ago. Last weekend they took two of three games from USC. Then this week the Sun Devils played a Tuesday-Wednesday set in Phoenix, beating UC San Diego with the mercy rule twice. The final scores were 15-5 and 19-8, with both games taking seven innings.
Last year, these teams played only twice. They split a pair of games in Seattle.
