The No. 8-seeded West Virginia of Regional 2 in Albany will head on the road in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the No. 1 seed in the same region, Iowa, at Carver Arena tonight. The top-seeded Hawkeyes are cruising into this tournament with the best offensive attack in the country. They lost just four games this season and added another Big Ten Tournament championship to their resume defeating Nebraska 94-89 in overtime. They were matched up with No. 16-seed Holy Cross, the winners of the Patriot League, in the first round. They came out with a 91-65 win leading by 31 points at one point. Caitlin Clark finished the game with 27 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists to lead her team. Kate Martin also had a massive double-double performance with 15 points and 14 rebounds with two assists. Gabbie Marshall was the only other player in double figures with 11 points.

The Mountaineers finished the season with just seven losses which included one to Kansas State in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal. They earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament as a No. 8 seed matched up against No. 9-seeded Princeton in the first round. They were able to take them down by double digits, 63-53.
JJ Quinerly led the team in scoring dropping 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field with seven rebounds. Jordan Harrison followed her with 15 points and three assists. Kylee Blacksten was the only other player on the team in double figures finishing with 10 points.
