On Saturday, they will face off with Minnesota at Williams Arena in a Big Ten Conference showdown. The Illinois Fighting Illini are 15-8 overall this season, and after a loss earlier this week against Rutgers, they have dropped to just 7-6 against teams in the Big Ten. They are a game behind No. 18 Maryland and a game ahead of Ohio State and USC. They are 3.5 games behind the conference-leading No. 7 ranked Purdue.

They opened February with a win last weekend at home against Ohio State by eight points. In the 87-79 win, Will Riley led the team with 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Kasparas Jakucionis had eight points and a team-high seven assists, while two players had double-doubles. They lost earlier this week on Wednesday against Rutgers by nine points led by an 18-point performance from Riley.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 12-11 overall this season heading into this weekend. After finishing non-conference play with an 8-3 record, they have since gone just 4-8 against teams in the Big Ten. They are tied with Northwestern and one game in front of Penn State and Washington, who are tied for the bottom of the conference.

They opened up the new month last weekend with a loss at home against Washington by just three points. In the 71-68 loss, Dawson Garcia led the team with 28 points in a game-high performance on 9-of-12 shooting. Earlier this week, they went on the road to State College, PA, and beat Penn State by eight points. Garcia led the team again with 19 points.
