Alex Paou leads the IndyCar Racing series into the Bommarito Group 500 on the World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday.
The 2025 IndyCar Racing series closes out the first half of the season in Madison, Illinois for the Bommarito Group 500 on Sunday. Through the first seven races of the season Alex Palou has built a huge points lead over the field. He heads into this race with 311 points, 90 more than the next driver. Palou started the season on fire with two wins and built on that momentum with five total wins overall. This race will be a test for Palou after coming off his worst finish of the season, finishing 25th in the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. Kyle Kirkwood won that race for his second win of the season and is the only other driver to test Palou in the IndyCar Racing series.

Kirkwood is in third place with 209 points, fueled by his two wins and three additional top eight finishes. Despite the two wins, he is behind Pato O’Ward (221 points) in the standings. O’Ward has stayed near the top, finishing in the top 13 in every race this season, including four straight in the top seven.
Will Power claimed his 71st pole for this race, adding to his impressive record. Power is tied for fifth in the points standings with four top five finishes.
Last season Josef Newgarden won this race for the fifth time. Palou finished fourth, Power 18th, Kirkwood 22nd and O’Ward 26th on this track. After this race the IndyCar Racing series heads to Wisconsin to start the second half of the season.
