Wisconsin looks to avoid dropping four games straight when it hosts Iowa in this conference showdown on Saturday night.

Wisconsin looks to get back to .500 and earn its first Big 10 win of the season, when it hosts Iowa on Saturday night in Week 6. After starting off their season well with a 2-0 record, the Badgers are trying to avoid losing four games in a row. Their schedule has significantly ramped up in their last three games, dropping to Alabama, Maryland and Michigan. The most points Wisconsin scored in that stretch was 14 in a lopsided battle against the Crimson Tide. Iowa is looking to bounce back from its first conference loss of the season. The Hawkeyes nearly won three in a row two weeks ago, dropping 20-15 to a strong No. 11 Indiana team. Iowa is now coming off a bye week. With its 3-2 overall record and 1-1 conference record, Iowa will be the slight favorite on the road with a 3.5-point spread.

Iowa’s loss against Indiana was a heartbreaker, which would have been its biggest win of the season. The Hawkeyes were up 13-10 early in the fourth quarter, but Iowa couldn’t score again on offense. Indiana tied the game on a field goal, and then QB Fernando Mendoza got the go-ahead touchdown on a 49-yard pass to Elijah Stewart with 1:28 left in the game. Iowa got the ball back but could only go 26 yards and turned it over on downs. Indiana kneeled it three times and then Mendoza ran back 49 yards to secure the win, but gave Iowa a safety that didn’t matter in the end. Iowa QB Mark Gronowski ended the day with 144 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. Even with Wisconsin’s offensive troubles, Iowa will likely have to put up more offense to pull off this road win.

The Badgers are coming off a 24-10 loss to No. 20 Michigan on the road last week. Michigan was up 21 in the fourth quarter, and Wisconsin could only muster a field goal late in the game. The Wolverines outgained Wisconsin 445 to 252 yards. Wisconsin actually scored the first points of the game with a five-yard run by Dilin Jones mid-way in the first quarter. The Badgers couldn’t score again until there was 2:43 left in the game. Expect a defensive showdown in Madison, WI tonight.
