The Kings come off a loss on Saturday, while Kolkata picked up an easy victory on Friday. The Knight Riders won their third championship last season and their first since 2014, while Punjab hasn’t tasted the playoffs since a runner-up finish in 2014.

The Knight Riders opted to field first on Friday and their bowlers made the decision pay off with an eight-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, 107/2-103/9, ending the match early in the 11th over. Sunil Narine earned man of the match honors with 44 runs on just 18 balls, knocking five over the boundary, to go with a sterling 3-13 bowling effort. Quinton De Kock added 23 on 16 while Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy each claimed two wickets.

The Kings opted to bat first on Saturday and hung up a massive 245 before the host Sunrisers Hyderbad pulled off the second-highest successful chase in IPL history, winning by eight wickets, 247/2-245/6. Captain Shreyas Iyer powered the attack with 82 on 36 with six 6s and Prabhsimran Singh added 42 on 23. But the bowlers claimed just two wickets as Hyderabad completed the chase in the 19th over.

Ajinkya Rahane leads the Kolkata batsmen with 204 runs, while De Kock has 141. Chakaravarthy has eight wickets taken and tops the squad with a 6.39 economy rate. Iyer’s 250 runs are fourth-most in the IPL, with Priyansh Arya next on the team with 194. Arshdeep Singh’s wicket count stands at seven, with Lockie Ferguson’s 9.17 economy rate leading the struggling group of bowlers.
