The four playoff teams for the 2025 Indian Premier League tournament are set and now it comes down to a late battle for positioning among the top four. The Gujarat Titans (9-3, 18 points) host the Lucknow Super Giants (5-7, 12 points) on Thursday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a one-point lead over both Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings, with all three clubs having two matches remaining. The Super Giants won’t have bowler Digvesh Singh, who picked up his fourth and fifth demerit points of the season on Monday to earn a one-game suspension.

The Titans picked up their fifth win in their last six matches on Sunday with a 10-wicket victory at the Delhi Capitals, 205/0-199/3. Gujarat hunted down a target of 200 runs with Sai Sudharsan posting 108 not out (61) and captain Shubman Gill matching him with 93 not out (53) in a stunning display. Mohd Arshad Khan bowled 1-7 in two overs.
Lucknow’s losing skid extended to four matches on Monday with its six-wicket loss to the visiting Sunrisers Hyderabad, 206/4-205/7, as the Sunrisers completed the 206-run chase with 10 balls to spare. Mitchell Marsh and Aidan Markram started strong, scoring 65 (39) and 61 (38) respectively. Singh bowled 2-37 in the loss.
Sudharsan and Gill are the top two run-producers in the IPL this season with 617 and 601 runs, respectively. Prasidh Krishna is tied for the league lead with 21 wickets taken to go with a 7.85 economy rate. Nicholas Pooran ranks ninth in the IPL with 455 runs, just ahead of Marsh’s 443. Without Singh’s 14 wickets, Shardul Thakur’s 13 leads the Super Giants.
