Rohit Sharma led the attack for the Indians on Friday, opening with 81 (50) while new addition Jonny Bairstow debuted with a solid 47 (22) in their 228/5-208/6 victory. Trent Boult leaked 56 runs while claiming two wickets, but Mumbai was able to fend off the chase with relative ease.

Punjab paid for its aggressiveness, getting shut down in just 14.1 overs before Bengaluru completed the chase in just 10, 106/2-101. Marcus Stoinis’ 26 (17) was the best the Kings batters could muster while Prabhsimran Singh posted 18 (10). Kyle Jamieson and Musheer Khan were the only bowlers able to take a wicket during the chase.

Surya Kimar Yadav leads the Indians with 673 runs, the second-most in the IPL, while Sharma checks in with 410. Boult’s 21 wickets tie for third in the league while Jasprit Bumrah is tied for sixth with 18 to go with a 6.36 economy rate. Singh’s 517 runs are 10th in the league, one more than captain Shreyas Iyer for the Kings. Arshdeep Singh leads the bowlers with 18 wickets and 8.62 economy rate while Marco Jansen has 16 wickets.

Mumbai is chasing what would be a record sixth IPL title, with its most recent coming in 2020. The Kings, making just their third playoff appearance since the league debuted in 2008, are looking to reach the Final for just the second time ever after a runner-up finish in 2014.
