The Royal Challengers squandered a chance to move up to the top of the table on Friday when they were blasted in a 42-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, 231/6-189. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli got the chase off to a good start with 62 (32) and 43 (25), respectively, but the attack faltered from there. Romario Shepherd bowled 2-14 in his two overs.

Lucknow helped spoil the Gujarat Titans’ run for first place in the league stage with a 33-run win, 235/2-202/9, on Thursday. Mitchell Marsh powered his first century in IPL play with a 117 (64) and Nicholas Pooran 56 not out (27) helped set an unreachable target. William O’Roarke bowled a solid 3-27 in his four overs of work.

Kohli is sixth in the IPL with 548 runs and Salt checks in with 301 for Bengaluru. Josh Hazlewood, who is tied for fourth in the league with 18 wickets, returns on Tuesday after missing three matches due to injury. He also leads the club with an 8.44 economy rate. Marsh’s 560 runs rank fourth in the UPL and Pooran is 10th with 511. Digvesh Singh tops the Super Giants’ bowlers with 14 wickets and an 8.18 economy rate.
