Royal Challengers Bengaluru play to jump to the top of the IPL table on Friday in a home match moved to Lucknow.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (8-3-1, 17 points) can jump to the top of the table in the 2025 Indian Premier League tournament with just two matches remaining with a victory on Friday. Royal Challengers host Sunrisers Hyderabad (4-7-1, 9 points) in a match moved from Bengaluru to BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow due to adverse weather conditions in southern India. The opportunity to move up in the standings arose on Thursday when the league-leading Gujarat Titans lost at home to the Lucknow Super Giants. Bengaluru is one of the four teams that have clinched the playoff spots, with the seeding order to shake out as the league-stage schedule ends on Tuesday.

The Royal Challengers had a four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday with a no-result against the Kolkata Knight Riders, a match that was never able to start due to heavy rains in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli comes into Friday’s match eight in the IPL with 505 runs, carrying much of the load as Devdutt Padikkal is next on the club with 247. Josh Hazlewood tops the club with 18 wickets but is recovering from a shoulder injury. Lungisani Ngidi has a team-beat 7.50 economy rate, albeit in just four overs.

The Sunrisers, already out of the playoff picture, come off a six-wicket victory at Lucknow on Monday, 206/4-205/7, eliminating the Super Giants from playoff contention with a commanding chase with 10 balls remaining. Abhishek Sharma led the batters with 59 (20), including six 6s, while Heinrich Klaasen accumulated 47 (28). Eshan Malinga bowled a 2-28 in four overs.

Sharma leads the team with 373 runs and Klaasen is next with 358. Harshal Patel’s 15 wickets top the bowlers, while Jaydev Unadkat has the best economy rate on the roster at 6.94.
