Lawrence struggled in 2021, throwing an NFL-leading 17 interceptions and at one point tossing just one touchdown over an eight-game span. But the Jaguars have a lot invested in Lawrence being their franchise quarterback, so while QBs often go first in the draft, that won’t be the case in 2022.
Will the Jaguars use the No. 1 overall pick to bring in offensive line help to protect Lawrence? There’s been some chatter about the team taking NC State offensive lineman Ikem Ekwonu, and Alabama lineman Evan Neal is another top option if the team chooses to go with o-line.
Or could the Jags use the top pick on a defender? Egde rushers Aidan Hutchinson and Kayvon Thibodeaux are expected to be early picks, and there’s been some talk that the Jags could like defensive lineman Travon Walker from Georgia. In that scenario, Jacksonville could spend its later picks on help for Lawrence.
