Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard will miss next week's Champions League match against Manchester City and El Clásico against Barcelona after suffering an ankle fracture on Saturday's La Liga loss to Levante, the club announced on Sunday.
This is the second serious injury for Real Madrid's biggest signing this season. The Belgian missed the last three months with a foot fracture and played just two games in his return before getting hurt again on the same foot, and the forward is expected to miss at least two months, with the more pessimistic prognosis potentially ending his season. Hazard is still expected to be fully healthy to play for Belgium in Euro 2020.
The news of Hazard's injury made the weekend even worse for Real Madrid, who lost the top spot in the La Liga table after picking up just one point from their last two matches. Madrid will host leaders Barcelona next Sunday, three days before that they face Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.
It is without a doubt the biggest week of the season for Los Blancos, and they will have to face it all without the man whom they thought would be their best player.
