The stage is set for the Big East tournament championship on Saturday as fourth-seeded Villanova takes on second-seeded Georgetown at Villanova Stadium presents by JEEP. The Wildcats finished regular season play with a conference record of 2-3 and an overall record of 9-6. The team made it through to the championship game with an exciting 10-9 win over No. 1 Denver on Thursday in front of a home crown of nearly 800 fans. Thomas McIntire and Matt Licata led the attack with two goals apiece while six other Wildcats contributed to the scoring efforts with one goal each. In net, Anthony Wilson was challenged often and made an impressive 12 saves to knock off the number on seed.

The Hoyas finished off regular season play with a conference record of 4-1 and are currently 11-3 overall. The team has won three straight games including a 14-13 overtime win against Providence in the semifinal round of tournament play. Aidan Carroll put in the game-winning goal with less than a minute to play in overtime to go along with six other goals in regulation. He added two assists to support the attack to finish the game with a team-high nine points. Anderson Moore played the full game in between the pipes for Georgetown and made eight saves to help his team earn a place in the Big East title match.
Georgetown and Villanova met once this season in the regular season finale and the Hoyas won handily with a 12-4 victory on the road.
