The winner of this game advances to the championship match to play the winner of the first semifinal from earlier today between second-seeded Princeton and third-seeded Yale. All season those four teams have been the best in the conference and some of the best overall teams in the country in men’s college lacrosse.
This season the teams have played one time with the match going into overtime and playing out as one of the most exciting, competitive matches of the season overall. In that match the Quakers won 11-10 in double-overtime after jumping out to an early lead. The Big Red took an early 6-4 lead after the first period before the Quakers slowly came back to tie at the end of regulation.
That sets the stage for an exciting semifinal matchup between these teams in round two with the venue shifting from Pennsylvania to New York where the Big Red are undefeated this season and won five of the seven by at least four points.
