América hosts regular season-leader Pachuca in the first leg of the Liga MX Clausura semifinals on Thursday at Azteca Stadium.
The winningest club in Liga MX history turned its season around over the second half of the Clausura tournament in 2022. América (13 titles) was in last place in the standings up to the ninth matchday of the campaign. Letting go of former Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari proved to light a fire under the team as the historic club fought back all to No. 4 throughout the final eight matches, directly earning a spot in the postseason and avoiding the play-in round.

Los Tuzos advanced to the semifinals after defeating Atlético San Luis 5-4 on aggregate, 3-2 in the second leg, thanks to a Nicolás Ibañez brace at Hidalgo Stadium.
Pachuca must now face arguably the hottest team in the league in América in order to book a spot in the Clausura tournament final. The first leg will be played at the historic Azteca Stadium on Thursday, with the second leg going down on Sunday back at Hidalgo Stadium.
