He opened the tournament with a four-under-par 67, followed by the same score in the third round to hold off the rest of the field. Hatton’s team, Legion XIII, is in second place at four under par collectively through three rounds. Behind Hatton on the leaderboard are Thomas Detry at eight under par, Sergio Garcia at six under par, and four tied at five under par who are also in the mix.

The quartet tied at five under par includes Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Abraham Ancer, and Cameron Smith. The biggest threat heading into the final round after shooting a seven-under par in the third round is Johnson.

Johnson opened the tournament with a disastrous 76 with six bogeys and just one birdie. Then, between the second and third rounds, Johnson shot a combined -10 under par with 11 birdies, two eagles (including a hole in one), and five total bogeys.

Since joining LIV in January 2024, Hatton has one win. He has one PGA Tour win, eight more in the European Tour, and eight top-10 finishes in golf’s major tournaments. He is in a position to earn his second LIV win.
