New England Free Jacks, 2-time defending holders of the MLR Shield, open the playoffs on Sunday by hosting the Miami Sharks

In just their second season, the Miami Sharks fashioned an 8-8 season to claim the fourth and final playoff spot in Major League Rugby’s Eastern Conference. Their reward is a visit to the two-time defending champion New England Free Jacks on Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Massachusetts. New England claimed the top seed in the East with wins in its final two matches to clip the Chicago Hounds by two points after each finished 11-5. It is the fourth straight playoff appearance for the Free Jacks while Miami is making its postseason debut.
