    No. 16 Georgetown will look to pull off an upset over No. 2 Maryland when the teams meet in the NCAA quarterfinals on Sunday in college lacrosse.

    On Sunday afternoon, the No. 16 Georgetown Hoyas will look to continue their cinderella story with a win over the No. 2 Maryland Terps when the teams meet at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament in college lacrosse. The Hoyas opened tournament play against No. 6 Duke on Saturday, winning 16-12 to earn a chance to make it into the championship game. Aidan Carroll led the Georgetown offense, scoring six goals on 13 shots and adding two assists for an eight-point game. Fulton Bayman added four goals to the scoreboard and finished with one assist, as well. Anderson Moore anchored the defense and made nine saves to pick up the win in net and help to advance his team to the quarterfinal round.

    After receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, Maryland opened play against Air Force on Saturday. The team won handily over the Falcons with a 13-5 win to continue toward the goal of a national title. Eric Spanos scored six goals for the Terps to lead the offensive efforts, while Braden Erksa, Zach Whittier, Noah Armitage, Bryce Ford and Matthew Keegan each found the net once. Rounding out the goal scorers was Daniel Kelly who finished the game with two goals. In net, Logan McNaney earned the win, making 10 saves, before Brian Ruppel came in for the final 10 minutes of play in which he allowed two goals and made one save.

    Georgetown and Maryland have met a total of 12 times in their history and the Terps hold a 10-2 lead in the all-time series. The teams last played in 2012 and the game resulted in a 16-11 win for Maryland. Tune in Sunday afternoon to see which team is able to stay alive in tournament play.
