Big West play continues Sunday for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as the team visits No. 22 UC Santa Barbara in men’s college soccer.

On Sunday afternoon, Cal Poly will look to knock No. 22 UC Santa Barbara out of the national rankings with a road win at Harder Stadium in men’s college soccer. The Mustangs bring an overall record of 4-3-3 into Sunday’s matchup with a Big West record of 1-0 thus far. The team will look to extend its win streak to three games after beating UC Davis 1-0 on Wednesday in the conference opener. A first half goal was scored by Oren Stuppel, his first of the year, in the 27th minute of play and it was enough for the Mustangs to add three points to their conference total and stay at the top of the standings. The Gauchos also opened Big West play with a win, beating UC San Diego 3-1 on Wednesday to bring their overall record to 7-2-1. The team fell behind early, as the Tritons buried a goal in the sixth minute of play to take a 1-0 lead. The scoreline stood until the second half when Alexis Ledoux netted his eighth goal of the year to tie things up shortly after the halftime break. Ledoux struck again less than two minutes later to put the game winner in the back of the net. With 15 minutes remaining in the game, Zac Siebenlist added an insurance goal with an assist by Filip Basili. David Mitzner made two crucial saves in net to keep the lead and help his team to its first Big West win.

These two teams already met once this season, however, it did not count as a conference match. The game resulted in a 2-0 win for Cal Poly with goals being scored by Nathan Colley and Diego Guerra. Tune in for the revenge match on Sunday afternoon, as the Gauchos look to beat the Mustangs when it counts.
