Berchelt is the defending champ and Valdez is the challenger. To call Berchelt "El Alacran" or The Scorpion the defending champ would be an understatement. He is not only one of Mexico's greatest fighters ever but one of the best in the world. He has held the super featherweight title since 2017 and for the last year has been ranked the best super featherweight fighter by several publications. This will be his seventh title defense as the junior lightweight champion.

There has been no slow down to his style since 2017 either. He gets his nickname honest by attacking and landing a fury of punches. He has not become more defensive or conservative as he has tried to hold on to his belt. He will be using that strike technique thoroughly in this one because he has nearly half a foot on his wingspan over Valdez. He has lost one fight but that was more than seven years ago. His resume and physical stature over Valdez make Berchelt the favorite stepping into the ring.

But Valdez will absolutely be no pushover. In fact, he can claim two things that Berchelt cannot. First Valdez is still undefeated and he has Olympic experience. While Valdez may not be able to last all 12 rounds with Berchelt who has a distinct size advantage, he can play a more calculated game and he is defensive enough can wear down his opponent into making a mistake.

That' just not Valdez's style though. He is extremely aggressive as well and has a 79 knockout percentage with tremendous power. Who knows if this fight can even go a few rounds with the amount of octane that will be in that ring. The odds of the fight going the distance are -265 and Berchelt winning by TKO is -162. Can the lightest underdog pull off the upset?
