The Loons have booked back-to-back wins in each of its last two encounters with NYCFC, managing to keep a clean sheet on each occasion.

After almost three months out of action, Minnesota got back to business with a 6-0 pre-season slaughter of Sporting Kansas City on Sunday:

However, the satisfaction of that result was quickly quelled after losing 2-1 to the LA Galaxy three days later, now hoping to end pre-season on a high note.

The Galaxy appear to have Eric Ramsay’s men figured out given they also beat Minnesota 6-2 on the final day of last season, though the rivalry with NYCFC has been far more competitive.

Four of the last six meetings between these sides have gone in Minnesota’s favor (including friendlies), though NYCFC’s sole win in that time happened to come at Allianz Field.

Saturday’s matchup with be a neutral occasion for both teams, neither of whom may expect a majority in support as they meet on neutral west-coast soil.
