Moniak, slashing .307/.356/.664 with 12 home runs, had an RBI single in the first inning as the Rockies took a 2-0 lead and added an insurance run in the eighth when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Former Diamondback Jake McCarthy added an RBI knock in the second and TJ Rumfield opened the scoring with a run-scoring single in the first. Tomoyuki Sugano worked around seven hits in five innings to get the win.

The Diamondbacks cut the deficit to 2-1 when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. stole home in the second inning as part of a double steal and Corbin Carroll doubled in a run in the fifth to cut the margin to 3-2. Eduardo Rodriguez took his first loss of the season, allowing three runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings, striking out six.
