The Reds got a strong performance from starter Luis Castillo to earn a 5-3 victory over the Cubs in game one on Tuesday night. Castillo struck out 11 batters in six shutout innings in his first win in over a month, while Cincinnati’s Jonathan India hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
After trailing 5-0 following India’s homer, the Cubs scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to make things interesting. However, the Reds held on with a save for Hunter Strickland.
The Reds will look to make it two-straight wins over the Cubs when they continue a three-game series at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night.
