The last time the Reds took the field, their offense exploded for 10 runs in a 10-3 win over the Giants. That was a rubber match, and the Reds won the series with the victory.
That offensive effort was well-rounded from Cincinnati. Of their 15 hits, 11 were singles and seven different players recorded at least one RBI.
The Cubs also won their series thanks to a win on Sunday by beating the Cardinals 6-5, they took two of three from their primary NL Central rival.
Righty Luis Castillo will get the start for the Reds on Tuesday. He’s 2-4 with a 3.71 ERA. The Cubs will go with Keegan Thompson, who is 7-2 with a 3.10 ERA. Last time, Thompson allowed just one run and struck out seven hitters in six innings against the Pirates.
