The Reds got a 5-3 win on Tuesday. Their 1-2-3 hitters all had multi-hit games, going 6-for-14 overall. Second baseman Jonathan India hit a three-run home run and designated hitter Donovan Solano had two doubles.
On Wednesday, the Cubs struck back with a major offensive performance in an 8-3 win. Catcher Wilson Contreras went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs.
Thursday’s pitching matchup features two right-handers, with Graham Ashcraft going for the Reds against Kyle Hendricks for the Cubs. Ashcraft is having a great rookie year. He’s 4-1 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through seven career starts. Hendricks is coming off of one of his better outings of the year, allowing no runs on five hits in 7.1 innings against the Cardinals last week.
