With the visitors riding a four-game winning streak following a series sweep in Cincinnati, the Arizona Diamondbacks begin a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night. Baltimore currently sits atop the AL East with an American League-best 24-12 record on the season. The Orioles are 7-3 in their last 10 games, with a 12-7 record at home this season. Baltimore’s +53 run differential is also tied for the best in the AL, trailing only the Dodgers for the best run differential in the majors. Arizona, on the other hand, sits in third place in the NL West with an 18-20 record. The Orioles will send lefty Cole Irvin to the mound against Diamondbacks righty Brandon Pfaadt in the series opener.

Most recently, the Diamondbacks completed a series sweep of the Reds with a 5-4 victory over Cincinnati on Thursday. Joc Pederson homered in the top of the first inning to give Arizona an early lead, while Slade Cecconi pitched five strong innings allowing only one run in the win. 

As for Baltimore, the Orioles earned a series split with a 7-6 victory over Washington in extra innings on Wednesday. Jorge Mateo drove in the go-ahead run and then scored on a wild pitch to give the Orioles a two-run cushion in extras, and they held on for the win. 

The Orioles host the Diamondbacks in game one of a three-game series on Friday night.
