The Houston Astros go for the series sweep in the finale against the Seattle Mariners.
Justin Verlander has to be from another planet. There is just no other way to explain what he is doing right now. The future Hall of Famer is 39 years old and he missed much of the last two seasons with various injuries including Tommy John surgery. Despite all of that, he is the first in the majors to win 13 games after the Astros beat the Seattle Mariners Saturday. Now they’ll go for the series sweep today. This is all after the Mariners won 14 in a row.

The Astros won 3-1 after Verlander went seven innings striking out nine and only giving up one run. Logan Gilbert was tagged with the loss even though he pitched well going six innings giving up two runs. Despite losing their first two games after the All-Star break, the Mariners still hold on to the last AL Wild Card spot.
The Mariners will try to salvage the last game of this by starting their ace Robbie Ray. He is 8-6 with a 3.54 ERA. The Astros rotation is unrelenting though as Framber Valdez will get the start today. He is 8-4 with a 2.66 ERA. This is going to be a great pitchers duel for the series finale that you’re not going to want to miss.
